4/23 – The New Diet // Kal Marks // Boring People // Blank

Come on down to the Milhouse on Wednesday April 23rd ’round 9:00 PM with a few dollars for a responsibly rip-roarin’ time.

The New Diet from Chicago is simultaneously chill and loud with excellently written songs that make you feel all the feelings you need to feel.

Kal Marks from Boston shares a record label with some other quality bands we’ve had pass through our humble town, including Speedy Ortiz and Krill.

Kalamazoo locals Boring People and Blank will be playing as well.

Good times will be had. Bring those $$$ billz for those touring acts and remember:

Respect the house, respect each other!

Screamy Noisey Rock Show at The 411 Club 7/31 9:00 PM

TONIGHT! Image

Come see 6 sweet bands for only $5. That’s less than a dollar per band! And 4 of these bands are from out of town so they need you to come to this show and help make it a good one so we can keep having awesome out-of-town bands make Kalamazoo a destination.

Here’s a little preview of tonight:

edhochuli from Pittsburgh – weighty gnarly riffs & roars

Greyscale from Memphis – post hardcore screamo

Calculator from Los Angeles – post hardcore screamo

Seventeen Again from Kalamazoo – metal punks

Bill Tucker from Chicago – Noise

Forget the Times from Kalamazoo – Noise Rock

Just a fair warning, shows at The 411 have been starting ON THE DOT, so be sure to get there right at 9:00 pm so you don’t miss anything!

Last Victory House Show and BBQ! 6.27

Yo, folks! Tomorrow (Thursday, 6.27), Victory House is having their FINAL SHOW! As if that wasn’t enticing enough in and of itself, there’s also gonna be a cookout before the show! Cookout starts at 6:00 PM so head over there and bring some food to share and have yourself some good eats before the good jamz start at 7:00 PM.

Bands on the bill include a bunch of local favorites and one touring act (bring some $$dollar billz$$ for them, gas is expensive!) Also I am terrible at descriptions, just listen to the bandcamp links d00dz:

GEORGE COSTANZA – screamy twinkly http://georgecostanzaband.bandcamp.com/

FAR FROM HOME (Chicago, IL) – features members of Ronnie Dobbs, Girl’s Gym, Time Bandit and Chris from Dirt Church. (couldn’t find a bandcamp, its a surprise)

JOHNIC & SKOOOP – experimental hip hop http://johnicskooop.bandcamp.com/

FORGET THE TIMES – free jazz noise http://forgetthetimes.bandcamp.com/

LINCOLN COUNTY WAR – yelly acoustic http://lincolncountywar.bandcamp.com/

BORING PEOPLE – indie pop (heard this was gonna be acoustic)  http://boringpeople.bandcamp.com/

TIM TAPPER – minimal indie folk http://timtapper.bandcamp.com/

It’s going to be a good time so come on out for the last hoorah at Victory House. Also, it’s Alex Gilbert’s birthday, so like congratulate him for being born.

5/10 – Y Lime?, Dustin and the Furniture, Hawkeye Red, Explosion Jones @ Milhouse

Thursday, May 10th Milhouse will be hosting another amazing living room folk show!

Y Lime?

Dustin and the Furniture

Hawkeye Red is a Grand Rapids ragtime group featuring members of Broken/Half.

Explosion Jones is a local musician you may have seen in some other Kzoo bands, but will be playing his first show as this solo folk act.

This is going to be yet another fantastic show courtesy of the Milhouse! This show is starting early to give people a chance to catch the show later in the night at Victory House so get there at 8 PM sharp so you don’t miss any of the wonderfulness that will assuredly take place. And bring donations to support the traveling bands! =^.^=

2/22 – The Swellers / Bike Tuff / Hometeam / Witch Fingers

Having some midweek Wednesday woes? Treat yourself to some quality pop punk! On Wednesday, February 22nd, The Swellers will be playing at The Strutt.

Hailing from Flint, The Swellers are arguably one of Michigan’s best pop punk band. These dudes have toured with bands such as Motion City Soundtrack, Paramore and Bayside. With energetic riffs and relatable lyrics, you’re bound to have a great time watching this band. Their live shows do not disappoint.

Opening up for The Swellers will be Kalamazoo’s very own Bike Tuff. If you have been to a pop punk show in Kzoo, you have seen this band.

Battle Creek natives and now Lansing residents, Hometeam will be sure to bring the energy to the stage. While only having played a few shows in Kalamazoo, these guys never fail to have a slew of folks in the audience raising their fists and chanting the lyrics.

Lastly, but surely not least, the noodly guitar goodness of Witch Fingers! This band consists of members from your other favorite Kzoo bands: Ackley Kid, The Reptilian and Forget the Times, so you know they’re good.

This show is going to be just great. If you don’t believe me, I’m giving up a whole evening of cuddling with my cat just so I can attend this show. If that’s not a sacrifice, I don’t know what is.

Doors open at 6:30 PM with $10 advance tickets and $12 tickets at the door. GET YOUR TICKETS RIGHT MEOW!
