SHITLIST/PARASITIC TWINS/SEX BUNKER/BROWN COW

June 1 at Slaughter House, Ft. Wayne and Chicago are coming to destroy.

From Ft. Wayne:

Shitlist is loud, sludgy, fast and everything punk in between. They even have some hip hop on the album, although I don’t if it happens live…

Parasitic Twins is an 80s style punk band in the vein of Black Flag. Not a reinvention of the wheel by any means but definitely worth checking out.

From Chicago:

Sex Bunker. Sludgy garage punk with a noise and psych aspect. Fits right in with the Slaughter House crowd and other heavy bands for the night.
(Have fun watching this one, sound quality is great though!)

I’ve seen these guys a couple of times and they do not disappoint. Fast and melodic, in the vein of Thursday and Kidcrash. Definitley on the list of my favorite Midwest bands. GIRLFIGHT/HOLLOW EARTH/THAT’S BLOOD 2/6/12

Monday night at Victory House, it’s gonna go down.

GIRLFIGHT
Pittsburg, PA hardcore in your hometown basement. In the vein of Defeater and Every Time I Die, this band has one of the more aggressive sounds you’ll hear come through. Seriously, when do you ever get to see hardcore in this town? Come rage!
http://girlfight.bandcamp.com/

HOLLOW EARTH
From the Mitten State itself; Sabbath psych rock. If you dig Beast in the Field, Ozenza, or Harvey Milk you’ll be into this.

THAT’S BLOOD
Saw these guys once and it was rad as hell. 90’s influenced prog/punk/skramz, from right here in Kzoo. Check out their WIDR jam here:

Two shows in two days!!

First off, I hope everyone had a good and fun (and crazy) New Year, I know we all did.  I know we haven’t been around for a bit, but we’ll be trying to get back on things staring this week.

Tonight there is an acoustic show happening at the Milhouse, First Name, Last Name Fest I believe. Playing tonight there will be:

Kyle Thomas.
Heading through town, on tour from Ann Arbor. Formerly of 2194, he’s now doing some solo stuff the is pretty good. Hardcore goes emo.

And I’ve been hearing around that an old Kalamazoo favorite is back in town and might be showing his face and mabey playing some songs? We’ll have to see.

Thursday night at Old Dog Tavern

Tomorrow night at Old Dog it kicks off at 9 with Blackjack Mulligan, a newer psych rock band from right here in Kzoo.

Second up in the night is The Philly Crawlers. Influenced by bands such as The Kinks, Captain Beefheart, and Pixies they’re always a feel-good time.

FREE PUNK SHOW MONDAY NIGHT AT THE STRUTT!

Hold onto your hats, this is gonna be a wild one.
11/14, 8pm at The Strutt, FREE FREE FREE!!

CARAVELS are coming through town, on tour all the way from Nevada. From fast and aggressive to emotional and drifting melodies they aren’t something you want to miss. Punk never sounded so good.

ACKLEY KID One of two hometown heroes on this show. Punk beats and circle pits all night, come drink some beer and get rowdy.

THE REPTILIAN Noodle masters of the midwest with a serious edge. These guys have been tearing it up for a few years now, and they have no interest in slowing down. Sing along, jump up and down and stuff.

And some food for thought.

9/2 – CHILD BITE / PAN / ACKLEY KID / AL SABO

Good times are to be had at the Strutt Friday night (9/2) so make sure your there!  Doors  at 8:30, show at 9:30, five bucks at the door.

CHILD BITE is from the Mitten’s own De-troit and they put one hell of a show. Experimental rock riffs to bang your head to.
