1/1 – Ackley Kid, Front of Resistance, Coma Nova, Inflatable Best Friend @ the Ant Hill

In case you never got the memo, on New Years day (that is the Saturday after Xmas), there’s going to be a hootenany over at the Ant Hill. “What is this hootenany you’re talking about?” you may ask. Well it’s none other than Ackley Kid, Coma Nova, Inflatable Best Friend and Front of Resistance!

Come and check out the music, support the local music scene, because without you it’s just a bunch of dudes playing for other dudes who are playing for them, and that sounds a little dirty, and no one likes that.

8/23 :: That’s Blood // Bubonic Bear // Good News

Hello Kiddies! So if you did not make it to tonight’s show, you definitely missed out on an enjoyable time. For there not being a show at the No Fun house house in a little while, this was definitely the kick needed to put it back in gear.

First up was That’s Blood (formerly known as As Above So Below). This dual singer outfit reminded yours truly of some older mid 90’s screamo like Saetia, Pg. 99, among others, which for me, is a plus.

Next up was Philadelphia’s Bubonic Bear. I pity the fool who missed them. Real sludgy metal, really cool guys. They played a fairly short set, but heads were banging, and banging hard at that.

The night was concluded with locals, Good News, which never cease to play an incredible set. With their blend of mathy yummy goodness, I look forward to seeing what these guys can achieve.

Overall, wonderful show, and if you missed it, be sure not to miss tomorrows show, Dead Horse, Analecta, and Nue Sprights. Be Sure to be there!

A Little Mood Music, If You Will.

It’s Tuesday so you know what that means right y’all? The Almanac Shouters will be gracing the No Fun House with their presence, and along for the ride this time is Pittsburgh’s Run Forever, and Brandon Reid who hails from Alaska. The Show is running a little later than usual this time due to electrical work, so be sure to be there around 9:30pm, bands should start around 10. See y’all there.

Maps & Atlases Killed the Strutt

Earlier tonight (being June 24th of course), The Strutt‘s main stage was graced with the presence of three great bands.

First up was Grand Rapids band Victor! Fix the Sun, and this show, oddly enough, was actually my first time seeing them. They definitely won me over. They remind me a bit of Bear vs. Shark, to an extent. Their set was very solid and very enjoyable. I look forward to seeing them again.

Next was the Reptilian, and well, I’m biased, as they are one of my favorite MI bands currently. Their set was spot on and the crowd seemed to love it. This show definitely had to have been a great tour kickoff, seeing as both the Reptilian and Victor! are leaving for a 4 week tour tomorrow.

Maps & Atlases Q: Need I say more? A: Yes. They sounded incredible and everyone was getting into it. There were over 100 people dancing in the crowd, tapping their feet, singing along, it was just a great time. The band seemed very grateful for the audience and the show. When they finished their last song, the crowd (myself included) kept clapping, and they came back on to play another three songs. Overall the show was incredible.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support the bands, there will definitely be more to come soon.
