Packed High-Energy Summertime Show at Milhouse 6.16

Milhouse has taken a risk and booked three touring bands on three different tours. The reason: because all these bands are going to kick.

Signals Midwest are a high-energy midwest hardcore band from Cleveland. Their album Latitudes and Longitudes is infectious, and presents an intensity that promises to translate well to the live show.

Local support includes Jake Simmons & The Little Ghosts  – Americana fused with pop punk featuring Kalamazoo’s best front man, and Tim Tapper opening up the night with songwriting that is both political and emotional, coupled with solid guitar playing.

Show is starting at 9:00 PM on the dot. PLEASE DONATE TO THE TOURING BANDS. Three outta towners all need gas. There will be hand-printed 11X17s of the flyer available to purchase when you donate. Respect the house, respect the bands, respect yourself, skate or not.

As usual if you don’t know the address, email DIT.

Short and Simple, Crazy Battles and Old Reunions @ The Courthouse features Crash City Saints, Jake Simmons vs. Decades, Smallhouse, and Uuno

Seriously though, I feel like Michael Cera all the time.

Basically the show tomorrow.

Alright. Want punk-rock? Courthouse has it–provided by those friendly Hex Bombs. Sure to blow your face off, along with all the piercings and punk apparel you choose to bring along.

Jake Simmons? He’s feeling fiesty too. Feisty enoughto challenge the fearsome Decades fighters to a band battle to the best. Someone bring a trophy–although the prize will be oodles of fun for all.

VS.

Also, good ole Chris Wahamaki, one of the founding members of Crash City Saints will be playing a set together with the ole band–shoegazing holes right through your soles. Dreamsicle-pop, wavy, gum-drop, hazy, fun adjectives.

Spastic math rock will be all over listeners plates too, if they give their ears to touring band Smallhouse–this duo is on tour from Bowling Green, KY, and is sure to scream your eyes open while technical instrumentals will keep things titillating.

He has one more thing to add, too. Chris will be performing a unique set of sorts of his solo project, UUNO, with the hometown heroes of Crash City Saints, Lincoln County War, Werewolf, Mushmen, and Witchfingers. I’ll let you figure out how that might sound.

Respect the court, respect the citizens, respect yourself, respect the fun. Show starts at 9 p.m.

TONIGHT – Nervous Passenger, Forget the Times, Johhny Foreigner, Jake Simmons & the Little Ghosts @ Milhouse

Nine o’clock tonight at Milhouse, two traveling groups and two local favorites will bring sounds to one of the Kalamazoo underground music community’s favorite basements.

Johnny Foreigner, coming in all the way from the UK, is an energetic four-piece pop punk outfit with some experimental leanings.  They’re hitting up the east coast, as well as the midwest on this tour.

Swerp Records labelmates Nervous Passenger are out with JF.  They provide the type of throaty pop punk commonly brought to the Vine Neighborhood by Fat Guy House.  They describe themselves and their music by saying “…songs are about girls and/or friends and/or beer, and they’re super fun to sing along to.”

Local support for the night comes from experimental/noise rock favorites Forget The Times, as well as left-wing anthem singers/Ted Leo fanatics Jake Simmons & the Little Ghosts.  Donations will be accepted and are encouraged for the traveling bands.  Attendees should plan for a fun night, but also to be respectful of the space, the others attending, and the people organizing/helping out with/playing the show.
